An Umbrella

The bell ring broke my calm sleep. I was forced to open my eyes. I looked at the watch lying on the table next to me. It was perfect noon. Still 4 hours to go. Now what am I supposed to do with so much of free time? I am get bored again 😦

Perhaps, I am going to spend my time thinking of my glorious past, just as I do every other day. It was when I really enjoyed every moment of my life, the time when I was proud to belong to my master. The time when he worked, and took me everywhere he would go. I could see so many places, meet so many new people. 🙂 Get wet in rain, enjoy the breeze. Sometimes even bath in sun! Those were the happy days of my life.

I remember the time when my owner’s grandson had come. He had taken me on a date! I very vividly remember, he took me to a five star hotel! And his girl…! She was so beautiful! I couldn’t take my eyes off her! But anyways, she never realized it and thankfully, even he didn’t. Otherwise he wouldn’t have taken me on beach with his other friends! 😉

The owner still likes me and tries to take me out. But there are no more new places to see, no more new faces, or beautiful girls to meet. 😦
The same old garden, same old (literally) people and their lame jokes. That too just twice a day. It is once in the morning at 9 and then directly in the evening at 4. And if at all it is raining heavily or the sun is too hot, he prefers sitting home and watch TV.
In fact I am of no use to him except, as a support while walking and to frighten off the street dogs.

So, there is nothing much to look forward in life. It is just me and my friend, Mr. Wristwatch, lying on the table, wondering what’s going to happen next in our lives.

And happy days are here again

Today was a beautiful day, for no reason. Or may be for so many reasons which I am not yet sure are valid ones. I got up on time; I got up on my own without my Dad waking me up. I did rest all things on time, got ready on time. In fact I also had some time to look in the mirror and set my hair just the way I wanted them to be. Got some time to find matching earrings too. I also revised the words I learnt last night! Wow!

I completed all the work in my office, without any stress. I was satisfied while leaving the place. 🙂

Even after coming back home, I was feeling fresh. I smiled at my mom when she opened the door. She was wondering if something was wrong with me. I continued to smile. I helped her with cooking, did my studies and now, writing a blog. After posting this one, I am going to sleep, on time and so, I will get up on time tomorrow!!

Today was probably a perfect day. Nothing special happened, but I am still happy. The reason is obvious. Everything went as per the schedule. I have always wanted to leave such kind of life. You decide, you act and you get the results you wanted. Also, the feeling that you don’t depend on anyone else for your happiness is so strong that it makes me feel even happier.

Its not that I am a perfectionist or I want to be one, but there has to be some discipline. So does that means I will keep on doing same thing daily? One can actually make it interesting by adding some more challenging things in their schedule and seeing if they can be managed within time!

Well, the happiness is making me greedy! 😉

Dreams!

Dream is not what you see in sleep, dream is the thing which does not let you sleep.
– Dr A P J Abdul Kalam

This week’s photo challenge gave me such a wonderful topic to write about! 🙂

I would like to categorize dreams into two types –  those, we wish, they’d turn true and the others we do not even want to dream in the first place.

Let’s first talk about the later type, we usually see them with eyes closed, as an after effect of a horror movie or TV serial or any crime report we watched earlier. So, we prefer, they wont come true, unless our most hated enemy is the victim. But, sometimes, they are so worse, we don’t want even our enemy to be that victim! 😦

I had many bad dreams and, in those such dreams, a person very close to me had died three times! Of course, I woke up with a shocked look all the three times!!! The only positive thing, I could think of is, I realized how much I need that person in my life

I have stopped watching such stuff!

One would say that, these dreams are the direct outcome of our thoughts or they are just the random pictures form our day to day life, compiled together by our brain (just because he doesn’t have anything worthy to do while we sleep!!)

Now, going back to the first type, they are the ones which we see with eyes open, may be good ones – if they are for ourselves,  or bad– if they are for our enemies! We so desperately want them to come true. And, as the thoughtful person has rightly said, they don’t let us sleep!

Everyone has such kind of dreams. I thought of asking people around me, what is or were their dream or dreams. And I really got some nice answers. 🙂 🙂

My mother wanted to become a police but she ended becoming a teacher! Now God save her students!

My dad wanted to become an Engineer, he became one, got a nice job, and he is satisfied. My brother told me that he wanted some numbers as his percentage in his final exam and he got them.

One of my school mates told me, he just wants to be lazy, sleep and eat nice food without doing any hard work and he wants a job that will help him to do so! Hats off!
I asked one of my uncles and he told me that, he had never had any big dream. Today, he owns a 1BHK flat and believe me, about where I stay, it is very difficult to have your own 1 room-kitchen flat. He says, he had never thought he would ever have his own flat.

I too had a dream which already came true. I work in a company which has more than 20K employees and it has its own transport facility for them. When I was studying, I had told my mother-“One day you will see me in one of these buses!”
Now I don’t use their bus facility but I do work there. My mom is very happy about it!

I still have many more dreams which I hope, will come true sooner or later! And I know you too have one or more of them in your eyes, you are waiting, struggling or may be they are just on verge to come in reality! Do share them people!

I hope, keeping my fingers crossed, that all our dreams come true!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Dreaming

Aah! Such a wonderful topic!

I got this snap of Priyanka Chopra, in a newspaper. I recently came to know that the model turned actor became Miss World at her age of seventeen! I feel very proud of her! I cut the photo and placed it on my cupboard the same day!
Now, I don’t want to be a model, miss world or an actress. But I just want to be somebody, who has achieved all her dreams, lived a passionate life, enjoyed the power of confidence!

Babu tells his brother

Babu was at the top of the world! He had the doll! A thing – none of his friends had, not even his brother. Of course, if his brother would have had one, Babu would have got it by now, just like all his other things.

Babu’s joy knew no bounds! He held the doll to his chest, just as the girls had done. He went to his mother, to show her the doll. She was busy with some chores, she just gave a look and continued to work. Babu came into his room to play with his new toy. He remembered, the girls treated it like their baby. He too thought of doing the same. It was a hot afternoon. He decided to put the doll to sleep, he kept her on the floor, patted her on chest, assuming that she must have slept by now,  he himself went to sleep.

There was lot of noise outside. He could hear children in his neighborhood playing outside. He could also listen to his brother’s voice! ‘That means he is back from school!  I got to show him this new thing! I have to show him the doll! He will be proud of me!’    Babu thought so. He pulled the doll from the floor, holding it in one hand, ran outside to his brother. He could see his brother playing marbles with his friends.
“ Hey brother! ”
“What?”
“Look what I have got?”
“What?”
“A doll!”
“What?” He looked at the doll in his hand. “You got a Barbie?” He mocked at Babu. “Are you a girl? And where did you get it?”
“I got it…”
“What do you need a doll for? Throw it away”
“But why?”
“Because, you are a boy! And boys don’t play with a doll!”

Two words for two weeks

May be, I am getting this habbit of delaying things. Again I missed last week’s word and so here is the post with two words together, for last week and this week!

Like last time, this time too both the words are form S’ wordlist, as I am going through it. Both are them, I feel, are different, like you will definitely remeber once you know them –

1. Skulduggery

The word may sound a bit heavy, but its meaning is very simple, it means dishonest behaviour, deception, even simple – cheating. Now it makes me wonder why do we need such a heavy word when we have so many simple words to describe the thing?? Umm…may be for the effect….maybe… 🙂

2. Slapdash

Again, it simply means – haphazard, careless, sloppy, untidy. But just think the effect when you say – “You do the work in so slapdash manner…” 😉

Do use the words in your conversation and let me know what people react when they hear it! 😉
Do share any such kind of words if you know, they are really funny, aren’t they?

What is stronger, fear or hope?

Because Tour de France 2012 is going on, and I am an admirer of Lance Armstrong, I thought I need to write something about him.
It was some two years back; I didn’t even know that Lance Armstrong even existed, thanks to my poor GK. I had gone to a book stall to get something to read. I saw this book, “It’s not about the bike” and I just thought it might be something different than the usual novels, and I took it. And Ah! That was probably the one of the best things I have done in my life.

It’s an autobiography of a man, who survived cancer, even though he was in its last stage and after that, he made a come back – made a world record, which is yet to be broken, of winning 7 consecutive Tour de France!  Now Tour de France can be considered as world cup of football or cricket, in the cycling world! A grueling sport that continues for around 21 days and 3200 kms! Just imagine, these people are on bike for so long!!

Coming back to the book, it is really an interesting one. Before reading it, I thought it might be something like how he deals with cancer, how his family deals with it and all that. Well, it has all that but it also has much more in it, it will actually teach you to leave. It has inspired me to live a better life, as a human!  It is while reading the book, I realized, how much positive energy this Armstrong guy has! You can just feel it! He is awesome! And so is the book!!

I request you to read it if you get a chance.   There is much to tell about the book, about Lance, but I have no right words, so here are some of the quotes, few small excerpt  from the book – let you too feel the positive vibes –

“What ever your 100% looks like, give it.”

“The truth is, if you ask me to choose between winning the Tour de France and cancer, I would choose cancer. Odd as it sounds, I would rather have the title of cancer survivor than winner of the Tour, because of what it has done for me as a human being, a man, a husband, a son, and a father.”

“The question that lingers is, how much was I a factor in my own survival, and how much was science, and how much miracle?”

He looks handsome too!

“I don’t have the answer to that question. Other people look to me for the answer, I know. But if I could answer it, we would have the cure for cancer, and what’s more, we would fathom the true meaning of our existences. I can deliver motivation, inspiration, hope, courage, and counsel, but I can’t answer the unknowable. Personally, I don’t need to try. I ‘m content with simply being alive to enjoy the mystery.
Good Joke:  A man is caught in a flood, and as the water rises he climbs to the roof of his house and waits to be rescued. A guy in a motorboat comes by, and he says,

“Hop in, I’ll save you.”
“No thanks,” the man on the rooftop says.
“My Lord will save me.”
But the floodwaters keep rising. A few minutes later, a rescue plane flies overhead and the pilot drops a line.
“No, thanks,” the man on the rooftop says. “My Lord will save me.”
But the floodwaters rise ever higher, and finally, they overflow the roof and the man drowns.  When he gets to heaven, he confronts God.
“My Lord, why didn’t you save me?” he implores.
“You idiot,” God says. “I sent a boat, I sent you a plane.”
I think in a way we are all just like the guy on the rooftop. Things take place, there is a confluence of events and circumstances, and we can’t always know their purpose, or even if there is one. But we can take responsibility for ourselves and be brave.”

“Anyone who imagines they can work alone winds up surrounded by nothing but rivals, without companions. The fact is, no one ascends alone.”

“Knowledge is power, community is strength and positive attitude is everything”

“What ever your 100% looks like, give it.”

Last one, on hope again –   “Hope – that is the only antidote to fear.”

He has also written its sequel – ‘Every second counts’.   It is equally inspiring. The first book tells about fighting with cancer and winning the first tour while the second book talks about rest tours he won! Do read both of them!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Fleeting Moment

Fleeting moment

Nothing to say… I think the photo says it all…about fleeting moment! 🙂
