Getting ready for the big day – 2 Shopping – 1

Well, if you have to get ready for THE BIG DAY then how can you not shop?

So my all aunties and cousins, mom, dad and I went to shopping. In Surat, Gujarat, there is very good cloth market. And because the cloths come directly from factories, they don’t cost more as compare to other places where they also include transport charges in the cost.

So we went there and… ATTACKED!!!

Weekly Writing Challege: Power of Names

“What is in the name?”

Can probably be the best opening line for any essay discussing about names.

I really wonder, what is in the name? Will two people not be friends had they not had the names they have? Or will two people be friends because the names they have? Don’t we often get along with strangers we meet while on a journey without even knowing their names? Or sometimes it just the way others look or speak makes us on their side.

But friends are friends. We ignore everything once we are friends with someone. No matter whether we knew the name before or we figured our later.

I myself keep track of names of people I come across just to know where they belong from. Here, in India, with so many religions, communities, casts, languages, etc name can provide a lot of information about people. For instance a Gujarati will have quite business mind while a south Indian will be more hardworking. A Brahmin will (mostly) not eat non-veg food. But now-a-days, some of them do eat which will get your eyes rolling. So you don’t just know about the God a person preaches or the language he speaks but also his nature, the food he eats just by knowing his name!

Notebook Vs WordPress – Part 1

I just had a thought that what if I began writing my daily chores in notebook instead of in this blog? And I just got a topic for my post –

Why I should write in a notebook?

  1. I can write anytime I wish to
All I need to write in a notebook is a book and a pen. So whenever a thought pops up in my mind I can just open my notebook, remove the cap and start writing. It can be anywhere – on the roadside, in the bus, in college during the lecture, in a CCD, anywhere and anytime 🙂
  2. I don’t need to charge anything just a pen in working condition and book with few pages left will do
The biggest problem I face while using laptop is it is never charged when I need it the most. So using notebook will help me here. I don’t have to stay much prepared. As I said a notebook with some space to pour my thoughts and pen to make that visible is all I need. And just in case there is no pen, I can anytime borrow it from some one around 😛

Wake Up Sid!

It was some 5th time today, that I watched this movie Wake Up Sid! And I am as amazed and gleeful as I was the last time. 🙂

Sid is name of the protagonist and the movie captures a short phase of his life where he actually wakes up in his life! He realizes that he has a life waiting for him to do something!

It’s very short and simple movie. No glamorous heroines, no muscular studs. Just a normal (and cute) college boy and a girl of late twenties wishing to experience her independence. For a quick summary, the guy is like cool dude, son of a rich but hardworking parents wanting him to realise worth of education, money their hard work. While all he does is waste their money through out the time till he finishes his college. And then, there is this girl who comes all over from a different state to Mumbai, to live her dream of being a writer, being independent, doing everything on her own 🙂

English Bites!

Our English teacher, Mr Verma was different though. He destroyed our fragile confidence with pleasure and lowered our self-esteem to levels where we couldn’t even face ourselves in the mirror. Over time and after a lot of effort, we got better. We finally mastered the art of combing our hair without stealing even a glance at the looking glass!

The above is a short excerpt from “English Bites!”, the book just recently got published. It is by an Indian author – Manish Gupta, who has shared his experience while studying English, developing vocabulary. And while reading the book I couldn’t control my meandering thoughts and think of my encounter with the language which probably will go in till my last day on this blue planet!

Either I never had an English teacher like Mr Verma or I was too shameless to take the remarks made by teacher seriously as Mr Manish did. Whatever may be the reason, but I never realized the importance of the language when I was in school. Also, thanks to the fake patriotism lessons, that I received from God knows whom, they imbibed in me the thought that I must speak and care only about my mother tongue (Marathi) and our National language (Hindi)!

Mobile speaks…

Aah! So finally I have somebody to speak to! I mean I know mobiles are not meant to speak, I mean they are meant to speak but they are not meant to speak to them but with others. Still, it feels better when someone comes once in a while to listen what we have to say…

I have seen many owners, of my other friends who treat them like their best friends. They hold them so tightly and never leave even for a moment. They will either speak with their beloved ones for hours or they will either roll their fingers around their respective cell phones as if they are caressing them with love. But definitely not my owner!

I just don’t get what’s wrong with her. Forget about holding me in her hands she doesn’t even keep me in right place. I am always lying somewhere, some place even she isn’t aware. And most of the time the place is completely dark. I guess it is some kind of drawer where she literally dumps me. And if it not drawer or if it is some open space, it has to become dark after some time. Of course, because she places some other things on me!

Oh God! I am fed of all this low level treatment. She not only treats me like a non-living thing. but like a dead-non-living thing. Can you imagine how it feels? Never mind 😦

The worst part is when she is traveling. She just puts me in her bag (why didn’t anyone teach her to keep things in proper place!) and forgets it that I even exist somewhere. It’s kind of a roller-coaster ride. I keep on jumbling up and down, and most of the time its only the water bottle for my company. However, I guess she must have got a pretty figure. You know, it’s not only me who jumbles 😛 But then again it’s dark inside the bag!!!

What my owner keeps on claiming is that – she doesn’t really needs me as she never receives any call or messages. Now I say what the hell is that? There are people who call her so many times in a day and this over smart girl puts me on vibrate. How come she is ever gonna receive any call?

The only time she really needs me is when she goes to sleep. She puts on the headphones and goes to sleep. And after that, you know, she doesn’t know where I am when she is awake. So forget about it when she is asleep.

Huh! Now-a-days I hear rumors that she is going to get a new mobile who is smarter than me. This people have forgotten – ‘Old is gold!’ How can someone younger be smarter or wiser? And he would be equally dead and a non-living, isn’t it? Anyways I know, he is gonna get same treatment like me. I know her very well. She gets bored with things easily. I am just waiting for a good company 🙂

Girls… are even more!

This post can be thought as a sequel to my earlier post – Boys, you are too much! Well, when I posted that one, I got lot many comments on it, by boys, saying that they appreciate what I think about them. And they sounded like… they were pleased with themselves XD!!

I do accept that boys are too much. But I strongly believe, that girls are much more. Just in different areas.. 😉
To begin with… they know everything about people they really want to know about. Their birth-dates, their nicknames, their choices, their favorite movies, favorite this- favorite that. Not just about them but also about their families. And this someone need not be someone they talk to… it can be anyone, their fav character from any movie or soaps or fav player or any fictional character like Harry Potter 😛
They will hunt for every single news about them, every single page on internet that talks about them. They can do this for hours and hours, without getting bored. Boys, on the other hand, even tend to forget things about themselves 😛 (or maybe they just pretend as it is an easy way out of any quarrel!)

It is not necessary that the person is someone they care for. It can be even their enemy, ex- boyfriend, ex-best friend or anybody they just hate – for no reason.

Some of the mandatory things girls tend to know about are cloths of both men and women, food, health and hygiene. I will talk about them one by one.
There are variety of cloths around, made of different material, having different names. They are wore on different occasions. Particular tops goes with particular bottom. Certain cloths look good only in particular color. Also, cloths dispose personality of a person. So they can tell you what to wear to suit your personality and vice verse.

Addition to this are accessories. You can’t wear something if you don’t have appropriate accessories. See, that is the reason why the spend so much time in shopping, they need to have everything perfect. After all, only when they look good, you can experience heaven on earth 😛

I will better not go in hairstyling and make up… or else you will get bored!

As it is generally women who handle the kitchen, they are suppose to know things related to food. One thing I have noticed here is girls pick up things, related to cooking, very fast. They don’t have to mug up any recipe. They just see it, remember it and do it. And they have very strong taste buds and smell buds. They can easily tell what ingredients are added in it. Just they have to put on cooking shoes, at least once in their life. Maybe this is something by nature, transferred from mother to daughter. I would like to add in my first point, that they also know favourite cuisines of their people 😀

Have you ever wondered why girls look so beautiful and how they are so slim and trim? Because they are very conscious about their health and hygiene. They know what they are eating, from where they are eating. Well as i mentioned above they know the ingredients of the things they eat. So if they figure out that this food item has something unhealthy for them, they avoid it. While if they think it has something good for health, they will go for it!

Girls are strong, thoughtful, caring, matured. Only little less practical. They tend to think with heart and not brain. Hold on! When I say it like this, I don’t mean that it is their negative point. There are times when brain takes wrong decisions.

I am glad to be girl or rather a woman now 🙂
And I am sure you all are, too, glad to have a beautiful mother, a pretty sister, a loving grandma, a caring wife, a sweet daughter!
If boys are practical girls are generous, thus maintaining the balance of life.

Take care girls! The world is incomplete without us!
See you,

Hello People!!

I just don’t get how to start this post. And I don’t want to wait and think what is the appropriate way to do so. I just want to began writing before my minds get into something.

It has been so long since I last wrote something that actually came straight from my brain or heart or wherever it comes from. And I shared it with you all? Seriously, I don’t feel like going and checking the date of my last post. Because I feel like my fingers have had some boosters and they just want to write write and write… I am glad, I want the same thing!

Well, my life has changed. I am over all the sorrows, all the sadness I had when I started this blog. I have made peace with myself. I love life so much! Well I did love it then. But now, it is like, I am ok with the ups and downs as I know there is no way anyone can miss them. They are the things that keep us on our toes, keep life in our life. So I am just glad my life has life.

Now a days, I have enough things to do, things that keep me away from blogging. And I love them as much as I love blogging. Moreover, they are important to make my future. So I have to pay attention to them. But I did always think of my dream of becoming a writer someday. It is just not on priority list right now.

A new thing to mention is, I make my weekly timetable and I follow it successfully! Whoo! I am so pleased with myself!

I have grown up. I have become matured. I have learned to enjoy life J As I do so many things daily, I understand how they are going to turn up in the end. Although I agree that there are many things I am yet to see.

But I haven’t talked about the main point. There are people who get bored because they don’t have anything to read as i stopped writing! LOL! And they keep on asking me why I am not writing!! Guys! I am really thankful to you! Because this is what has brought me back to my baby! Ya this blog my baby 😛 (I know it sounds too much!)

Coincidentally, one of my fellow bloggers wrote a post on writing which has also inspired me to write. So i have decided to add blogging in my timetable and I already have thought of next topics to write about!

So don’t worry, you will have something to read!!

Merci beaucoup!

I need a break!

I don’t know what’s wrong with me these days. I am totally bored of everything. I don’t feel like working in office. And thankfully there isn’t much work load as of now. At home, too, I don’t feel like studying or doing any house old chores. And unlike office, I have my exams coming in just few days. :O And I am not that well prepared. Now I am completely dependent on the last day preparation. I just hope it ends well!!

I feel like taking break from everything. Like staying at home. Do nothing. Without worrying about any pending work or studies. Watch movies, watch cricket matches, cheer for my team, watch how my favourite players talk about their teams in the post match ceremony. Then read books late night. Sleep for long hours. Eat all kind of lazy food – like bread-butter or cheese butter or jam-bread and sauce bread. Then all sorts of Cadburys. Drink juices or milk shakes. Then watch television and get to know new songs, upcoming movies, celebrity updates. Read some newspaper, rave about the politicians, how they are messing with our country and how we are never gonna achieve anything. How we are a complete loser!

I also want to spend some more time online. Be little more social. Write regular posts for my blogs, read other blogs, comment and like other posts, participate in weekly challenges, get some followers for my blog too… I want to start a new blog as well. I want to read online beauty tips, read about food good for our health, watch how-to make up videos on you tube, apply homemade face pack, take care of my hair. Then learn Origami from Jo Nakashima, use my Canon cam to take some awesome snaps and get people’s awed expression.

I so very much want to live life like this! To spend a week doing only these above mentioned things. I want break from my regular routine. Only a small one will also do. May be, maybe I will try to get this break as soon as possible. Or maybe not. I am not sure. But I just realised that I just now finished doing one thing of – writing a new post 😀

I am glad I could do it. Hope to see you soon again. I really hope 🙂

March 29, 2013

It was afternoon of 27th March. We here in India had public holiday on the eve of Holi festival. The reason we have holiday s that the festival is celebrated, applying colors on each other. It is considered as a means to spread love, forgetting all past grievances, mistakes, misunderstandings, sorrows and believe that life is as colorful as the day.

When I was kid, I would be too excited for this day! Actually it’s not just colors but we also slash water on each other! Wow! It would be so much fun!! We would begin our preparation almost before a week! We would talk about past Holis and would make plans for the coming one. On the next day of Holi, we would compare how much the color has washed off from body. The one who has more color left is thought of as one who most fun! As if there was some competition!

But as I grew up, I stopped playing with colors. I  began to look at the festival as a holiday, to take rest. The colors no more represent the liveliness of my life. Probably, I have grown up a far too much to believe in old customs that we can easily forget and forgive and move on and live life cheerfully.

Carrying this grown up belief, on 27th afternoon, I was lying on my bed. Having shampooed my hair and later conditioned to smoothen, I was to pleased with myself. I was caressing my hair lying lazily when there was a knock on the door.

I opened the door but there wasn’t anyone. I was about to check if there is anyone who knocked and moved on when… Somebody sprayed color on my face!

Burra na mano Holi hai!

“Don’t mind, it is Holi!!” Shouted my cousins!!! My two cousins, with my maternal aunts and an uncle had arrived  out of no where to our place to celebrate holi!!!

And after so many years, I don’t know how many, I celebrated Holi with colors!! Hurray!

And I don’t know when next I will be playing it again, so I purposely got us clicked!!

Earlier I was bit apprehensive about my hair but later I just thought of ignoring it. Because life is indeed colorful! It is more fun in enjoying Holi with your cousins then getting a complement for smooth hair 😛

Here is a snap of my bro who joined us later. We colored him in green and guess what? He looks like the Hulk!! 😀

Before I finish the post, I would like to share with you all that this was my 100th post! And I don’t think I could get more luckier but to have a post on festival of colors!

Life is indeed beautiful. You just need to know how and where to apply color life brings to you! I know it is easy to say and difficult to do and all, but that’s what I am learning as I am growing up!

A belated Happy Holi to all of you!May you enjoy all the colors of your life!

Diana 🙂
